We Are SolidWorks!

While browsing through my Twitter feed today I came across this link from Mike Puckett at SolidWorks.  Could this be the future interface for CAD?  While I’m sure the main purpose of the video presently is to show the forward thinking motion of the company, I can’t help but wonder if just maybe the folks at SolidWorks R&D are giving us a hint of some future functionality.  I guess I’d better start making room for that big glass monitor in my office!  :-)   The embedded YouTube video is posted below

  • I want to give you all credits for a perfect blog! I am myself Arthemia Premium for my blog and am always happy when I see other people are fun of this theme too. Kindest regards from Croatia!
  • Hi guys,

You both have excellent points. It IS mostly spinning things around and moving them. I think the interesting part is the touch interface itself. Developing ways to interact directly with the models will be the key to the "interface of the future" whatever that may be. If they are working on editing and modeling touch interfaces....I would imagine that might be something they would want to hold close to their vest a bit longer.

Still..it was a fun video to watch. It certainly has created a little buzz. :-)

    Happy New Year to ya!

What exactly was getting done? All I saw was moving an object around the screen and displaying some text and menus. Plus, do I have to go back to standing all day like I used to at a drafting board?
  • Pretty cool movie, but moving object around isn't really designing is it?
I think touch screen and designing will only work if it is used to draw stuff.
