Hi Ricky,
I'm staying positive on this whole Cloud thingy. I'm old enough to have seen many, many technological things happen in the world. Let us just say that I was born some years before television arrived. What I think I like the best is the boost that it will give schools everywhere that do not have to get powerful PC computers to use the Student Design Kits. I also think of it this way. When taking my first looks at a TV screen back in 47 (7inch screen) I never for one moment even as a kid believed that those people were inside of that big boxey thingy. However, I knew for a fact that they were real people being pictured on that tube. I also knew that pictures of real living people could be taken with a black and white film camera back then too. So here is the point I want to make. Why should I believe that my SolidWorks user screen would not be as safe and secure as I see it on my monitor if it is coming from my computer or one on the internet? The technology is basically the same and only the point of screen generation will be different. To further pursue this security question, how many out there using company computers save their data to the same hard drive and not an external one or separte hard drive in the same computer? I had to learn this the hard way. Only my programs go on my main C drive and my data goes to a different one. I'm sure like you are that DS and SW will hammer out all the security issues and concerns. That will be a big problem and for those doing government contract work it will have to be good enough to satisfy the Federal mandates to do that kind of work. However, they should pay close attention to DS and SW to make their own computers secure as I understand their's aren't water tight even at the highest echelons of security. Well that is my two cents worth. Take care

SolidWorks didn't really address this at SolidWorks World 2010, but there are already answers, like private clouds and community clouds, to addressing this concern.
