Great story Ricky, I am glad as well to see that many OEM's are making solids available to use users. In the past, I really didn't mind modeling up a connector and making a family out of it but in theses days were my Engineer and boss are looking over my shoulder making sure I'm using my time wisely, I cannot afford to model stuff like that anymore and do perfer downloading. The Tyco guys sure know who I am.

Looking forward to seeing you again and will be at your presentation.

Steve

I have used the Misumi online catalog also. They used to have complete models then at some point converted over to the macro. Dodge bearing also uses macros to create their models in SW.

Misumi does this with their online parts catalog, too. You download and run a SolidWorks macro which creates the model on the fly. I think you will see more of this as I suspect the small size of the macro file offers many advantages over the native models.

I've used several parts in the past the were .bas files that rebuilt on the fly. The first time I ever got one, I thought that there had been a mistake.

It is defintely a nice way to send parts reduced to their "DNA", similar to rolling the end of part marker up.
